Description
This project, funded by FEMA and CDBG-MIT, involved the provision of architectural and engineering services for the reconstruction of a critical facility impacted by Hurricane Maria. The scope of work focused on post-disaster inspection, damage assessment, and design development for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the facility. This included environmental review, extensive field evaluations to document hurricane-related damages, assess structural and non-structural system failures, and identify opportunities for hazard mitigation and improved resilience in accordance with FEMA frameworks. As part of the design phase, services included the development of architectural proposals for a new café component within the facility, integrating user needs with code compliance, accessibility standards, and resilience-based design strategies.
